Pair of boxed percussion fulminatepill pistols |
|
The numbering found on cased pistols are normally "1 " and "2" as they where normally ordered in pairs. Addtional numbering is seldom seen on single or pair of pistols, particularly if they are part of a gift of luxury weapons to dignitaries.
The elegant pair of early percussion pistols with gilded decor in the case below must have been made around 1820 and is therefore a rarity.
This pair of pistols are dated to around 1820 and the numbered "151", which is rather low. Other numbered weapons with such low numbers was made in his Versailles Manufacture, so thenumbering therfore isn't chronological, and not what today are considered serial numbers.

Some data on the pistols numbered "151":
Exceptional and unique
case manufactured by BOUTET, probably as a presentation model, carrying the name of the famous gunsmith on the lid and les queues de
culasse.
Case dimensions : 45 x 29 cm.

This pair of guns "151" was sold in 2024 by Osenat in Versailles, and then again presented for sale in may 2026 by Rock Island Auctions in Texas, but it seems that they did not reach an acceptable price as they are not registered in the results pricelist. Please mail comments concerning this page and website to boutet @ armhis.com
